‘It’s Frustrating’ — Students Express Worry Over Inability To Vote

Students have begun to express worry over their inability to exercise their franchise in the ongoing Students’ Union Election.

As of 2 pm, six hours after the election was scheduled to start, the majority of students had been unable to participate in the exercise.

Speaking with UCJUI, Nnamdi Azikwe Hall Chairman, Morisade Soladoye-Adeowole, described the process as frustrating.

“It’s been frustrating. Election was supposed to start by 8 and we have been online since 8 and we have been on the lookout, we got links. Later on it started working and it said voting has ended. Then we had to wait again, they sent another link, we clicked that link too and it’s not even going at all,” he said.

“This is 2’o clock, it was supposed to start at approximately 6 hours ago and still nothing. It’s been really difficult and now there is no light and we have been having people’s devices go down and some people might not vote due to the frustration and some people were not really interested in the whole process before and now they might not even vote… The turnout might be low,” the Zik hall chair added.

For Owoeye Mosope, 200 Level Law Student “I just got my username and password at 1 pm. Voting closes at three pm and the site has crashed. It’s been a dismal experience”.

He added that this might be a sign that ”we should should stick to ballot papers.”

Meanwhile, the electoral committee in its release called for patience as they are on top of the situation.
