Can we meet you?
My name is Babalola Oluwafisayo Oreoluwa, a 300 level student of the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I am number three out of a family of four children and I’m the only girl.
What has your experience in U.I been so far?
This would be the first time that I would be away from home for this long and I wouldn’t really say it’s been challenging but I have learnt a lot in U.I. In short, it has been a great experience.
Why did you decide to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering?
Well, it wasn’t my plan originally because I actually wanted to study architecture but then I found myself in Elect/Elect Engineering maybe because it’s the mildest of all the engineering courses.
People often refer to the ladies in tech as ‘guys,’ what can you say about it?
That notion is very wrong! We have very gorgeous and beautiful set of ladies in tech and it shows that we can be found in all walks of life, as well as in every sector of the economy being active and relevant.
What is your opinion generally about tech guys?
Tech guys are cool and accommodating. I have rapport with a reasonable number of them and also have a couple of them around me because we have few ladies in the faculty. I also must commend them for understanding and accepting the fact that there are female engineers amongst them.
Most challenging course(s) in the faculty?
I don’t think I have encountered any so far.
What are your hobbies?
I love travelling, reading and cooking.
What is your best food?
I really don’t have any best food in particular. I just love African dishes, most especially the ‘swallows.’
Most embarrassing moment?
I can’t remember. Perhaps, I don’t have any.
Most exciting moment?
Hmmm…it was on my just concluded birthday. I had the most mind blowing birthday ever!
_What are your likes and dislikes?
I like optimism. I dislike pessimism.
Are you in a relationship?
Yes
What is your take on virginity?
I would like to start from the general view of virginity, people think it’s old school and therefore treat like a piece of rag. In addition, the Bible is my standard and it frowns at losing it before marriage. Therefore, I would say virginity should be encouraged among the female youths of these days because it represents the pride and dignity of a woman. If you have the opportunity of keeping it as a lady, please do!
Can you date a techite?
Yes, why not!
A techite in your institution of learning?
Yes, I can.
Your fashion sense?
Simple and gorgeous!
What wouldn’t you be caught wearing?
Haaaa…of course I won’t be caught wearing anything too revealing and all its sorts.
Role model?
My mum. She’s one in a million and also an inspiration to me.
What is unique about you?
Hmm…I think it is my perspective of life.
Your kind of guy?
I don’t have a data sheet of my kind of man.
What do you think is the role of Women in Engineering?
Women are always relevant anywhere they find themselves and though engineering might seem like a place for the strong and mighty. But then, there is also the part where compassion and emotions are needed. A woman engineer would do better there. Also, what a man can do, a woman can do better.
Finally, what is your advice to ‘techites’ in general?
Be purpose driven, know why you are here.
