The Asido Campus Network University of Ibadan (ACN UI) on Saturday, September 19, 2026, held the fourth edition of its Matters That Matter program at the KAAF Auditorium, University of Ibadan.

Themed “MOVE,” the event focused on mental health, suicide prevention and student wellbeing, bringing together students, campus organisations and mental health advocates.

A major highlight was the oratory session, which featured representatives from the UI Student Union Mental Health Committee, Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), Junior Chamber International (JCI), AIESEC IN IBADAN, The Literary and Debate Society(TLDS), and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN). The session explored suicide, mental health and related issues.

The panel discussed challenges facing young people, including academic pressure and isolation, while emphasising empathy and supportive responses to those experiencing mental health or suicidal crises.

The program also featured music and dance performances, as well as a mindfulness session facilitated by the Ibadan Peace Club, which introduced participants to breathing exercises and meditation.

The event concluded with an induction ceremony and recognition of participants and speakers, reinforcing the need for more open and supportive conversations around mental health among young people.
