The College of Medicine, University of Ibadan has halted physical academic activities over a surge in COVID-19 infection among student-residents of the Alexander Brown Hall.
In a release signed by the Provost of the University College of Medicine, Olayinka O. Omigbodun, “all Physical Academic Activities are to be halted with immediate effect till further notice”
According to the release, dated December 24, 2021, the directive was informed by reported increase in the rate of COVID-19 infection among students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan who are resident in the Alexander Brown Hall.
However, as reportedly recommended by the Vice Chancellor to the college, it was decided that academic activities would continue virtually; risk assessment and screening of medical students will commence immediately at the college.
“The students are to go home for the festive season so as to decongest the hall and lastly, those showing symptoms of COVID -19 will be isolated and treated. All these regulations will be reviewed occasionally,” the Provost announced
