UITES CREATE, on Saturday 25th of February, 2017, has released the much appreciated edition of UITES WRITES.
UITES WRITES, which is a platform for the showcase of arts by students of the University of Ibadan, was launched in 2016 by Habeeb Kolade and Dolapo Amusat. It’s maiden edition had broken grounds with over 200 poems and over 1000 downloads.
“October Stories”, which is the theme of the latest edition of the anthology, features over 30 stories from different student authors. It was described by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, winner of Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) prize for literature, showcases a range of voices that seek to replicate the mastery of Carvers and Bradburys with a distinct Nigerian flavour and panache.
The winner of the Premio Ostana Special Prize for Mother Tongue, Kola Tubosun, also wrote; “I am astounded by the breadth of talents here. It won’t be an exaggeration to predict that the writeers whose work appear here, and the editors that help them shine, have a bright future ahead of them.”
