UI’SU discontinued academic activities, Declares Emergency Congress over Utility Crisis as SSANU and NASU are on strike.

The University of Ibadan student union body has discontinued academic activities due to the lack of water supply, electricity and the health care centre that was closed, which are affecting the welfare of the students.

The union announced that all class activities must be suspended till further notice.

The union also said “ it is practically impossible to learn while the students are deprived of the necessities and that the students cannot continue as though things are normal while the student body suffers”

The student union has now responded to the crisis by scheduling an emergency congress which will be held in the evening, Wednesday, 6th of May 2026 at the SUB Foyer, by 5:00pm.

The union asked the students to remain calm and that their presence at the Congress is important.
