Aweda Bolaji Oloye, the erstwhile student union president of University of Ibadan gave his handover speech at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected student union executives and student representative council which took place on 7th of March, 2025 at Trenchard hall, University of Ibadan.
The handover speech contained a run down of what was done by team Amelioration, his advice to the newly elected executives and his gratitude towards the students.
In his speech he reminsced on how he was elected and the achievements of his team during their tenure.
“We worked tirelessly with the University Management in uplifting the welfare, cultural, security and educational aspects of our students’ life and promoting the good of our Prestigious University” he said
Some of the achievements he claimed to have achieved with his team are; securing of sponsorship for the purchase of a brand new Redmi 13 through the office of the Public Relations Officer, lightening up the Student Union building area, organising training sessions for finalists in areas such as project and CV writing to equip them for the world outside among others.
In his speech, he also adviced the new executive to remember their promises to the students, advising the new President, Covenant Odedele, to “consult, consolidate and consider before taking any decision”.
At the end of the speech, he thanked the students of the University of Ibadan for the opportunity to serve.
He also thanked the university authorities, especially the Vice Chancellor and members of the student affairs.
He further extended his gratitude to erstwhile Presidents of the Student Union and their executives who were of great help to him.
