Newly Elected UI’SU Executives Take Oath of Office at Trenchard Hall

The executive council elected on February 22nd 2025 has on Friday, 7th March, 2025 been sworn in during their inauguration ceremony at Trenchard Hall alongside members of the Students’ Representative Council.

The outgoing President of the Union, Aweda Bolaji, in his handing over speech, thanked the University management for “the support we got over time.”

He also advices the incoming president to consult, consolidate and consider past executives and the dean of students before taking any decision.

As he concluded his speech, he said of his tenure, “the journey ends here…”

Addressing the newly elected executives, The Vice Chancellor, Prof Adebowale, stated that the previous Students’ Union administration had set for them, a high standard which he was confident they would attain to.

Beginning his speech at the ceremony, Prof Adebowale said, “When you train a mind, the mind should be given freedom to express itself.”

He then congratulated the newly sworn in executives, wishing them wisdom, strength and success in their tenure.

In his first speech as president of the Union, Covenant Odedele stated, “We shall work progressively with the University management in uplifting the welfare of our students.”

The inauguration saw the attendance of principal officers of the institution. The event which started 10am had ended as of press time at 11:40am.
