LIVE: Olowu Victor, UISU Gen Sec Aspirant Scores 26 in Writing Exercise

At the ongoing University of Ibadan Students’ Union Press Night and Presidential Debate for the 2024/2025 academic session, General Secretary aspirant, Olowu Victor, faced heavy scrutiny after scoring 26 out of 100 in a critical writing exercise designed to assess his competence for the role.

The writing exercise, which tested candidates on their ability to draft official correspondence, presented two options:

  1. Draft a press release challenging the directive asking students to vacate campus, ensuring transparency while holding the administration accountable.
  2. Debunk financial misconduct allegations against the Union while restoring student trust and reinforcing financial transparency.

The candidate was given 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete the task. However, Olowu’s submission was met with severe criticism from the evaluation panel, which faulted his response for lacking coherence, formality, and depth—qualities essential for the office he seeks.

His work was also riddled with grammatical errors and mechanical inaccuracies, further raising doubts about his suitability for a role that demands precision in handling official communication.
