Seals Cup’24: MBBS defeats WPE on penalties to advance into quarter finals

MBBS has defeated Wood Petroleum Engineering Department, 4-1 on penalties to book a place in the next round of Seals cup 2024.

The last 16 encounters which had been dubbed by many as the tie of the round lived up to expectations as it got off to a feisty start at the SUB Pitch on Monday, August 12.

The men from UCH thought they had gotten the lead when a deflected shot found its way into the back of the net before it was chalked off by the referee’s assistant.

WPE star men Pade and Mjay were up and running for their team as MBBS’ Karbon and Habeeb pulled the strings at the other end.

The men from Faculty of Technology were able to keep the dominant student doctors at arm’s length as the clock ticked off into the 60 minutes mark.

Star men Pade and Mjay missed WPE’s first two spot kicks as MBBS scored their first three to put them three goals up in the penalty shoot out.

At the end of the penalty shootout, last year’s semi-finalist MBBS won 4-1 to advance into yet another Seals Cup quarter-final.
