The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ibadan, Friday, has formally requested an update from the Students’ Union (SU) regarding the highly anticipated Congress aimed at addressing the issue of school fees increment.
The demand, articulated in a letter, dated 9th of August 2024, highlights growing concerns among the student body over the SU’s handling of the issue.
The letter was sent through the General Secretary to the SU President, Aweda Bolaji, and it emphasizes the validation of the Congress call by the signatures of 250 students to discuss the issue of school fees and the state of the union at large.
The SRC, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Opegbemi Matthias Busoye, also requested a comprehensive briefing on the current status of the SU’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the fee increase and the overall state of the union.
“Additionally, the Council requires a briefing on the current status of the Union’s efforts to address the issue of school fees increment and the state of the Union,” the letter read in part.
The council has also set a deadline of 12th August 2024, for the submission of this report, signaling the urgency of the matter.
