The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan (UCJUI) on Sunday organised a football competition tagged “Unity Match” among its campus journalists.
The initiative behind the match is to foster unity and the spirit of sportsmanship among campus journalists, while also providing an avenue for networking.
Campus journalists were divided into four teams—Team A, B, C and D—which took on one another with exhilarating dribbles, neat passes, finesse touches, brilliant goals-scoring, magnificent goal-keeping, among others.
It was Team D, captained by Tobi Odeyinka that took the first position. Team C, captained by Ojediran Temitayo, and Team B, captained by Oyekanni Waris, the Union’s General Secretary emerged as the second and third positions respectively. Team A, captained by Shamusdeen Kareem, the Union’s Editor-in-chief was the underdog of the competition as they came last.
Refreshments were made available to the players as they rocked their bodies to Adewale Ayuba’s magical Ijo Fuji and other sweet music.
