CELEBRATION AS 2018/2019 UI FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY GRADUATING STUDENTS GET INDUCTED INTO NSE

Today, 3rd of March, 2020 is another milestone for the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ibadan branch; and the Faculty of Technology, UI, as they inducted 253 graduands into the graduate membership of the Nigerian society of engineers.

43 of the inductees bagged the first class honours, while Nwachukwu Emmanuel Chukwuemeka emerged as the best graduating student.

The Faculty Dean, Engr. Prof. Fakolujo in his speech, expressed his gratitude that the induction occurred since it was to hold last year before the break-out of the COVID-Pandemic affected the situation of things. 

He said that the role of engineers during and after the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be overemphasised. He urged the inductees to continually acquaint themselves with the new technological skills in order to be well prepared for their technological role. In his words, “modern engineers will need to garnish themselves with soft and digital skills for day to day engineering services.”

Present also at the ceremony was the Acting VC, Prof. Babatunde. A. Ekanola, who  admonished the inductees that “the basis of the most significant transformation in our physical environment is technology.” He wished them all the best as they journey into another phase of their lives.

The guest speaker, Prof. A.O. Raji, INEC commissioner, Ogun state and former Sub-dean General; Faculty of Technology, UI, did not hesitate to enlighten the inductees on what they should expect from the profession.  “It’s all about initiative and innovation. There is more within, turn it up. See beyond what you are seeing. See yourself as problem solvers,” he said.

He also urged them to be interested in national development and not personal gains.

After this, the event then proceeded with the oath-taking by the inductees.

Also present at the event were Ibadan NSE Chairman, Engr. Ajagbe; Former Dean, Faculty of Technology, UI, Engr. Prof. Kola Ogedengbe, Engr. Prof. A. Aremu , Dr. Olufemi Oladapo, E. F Adare, Engr. A.R. Subair, Engr. Akolawole and other distinguished members of the Faculty.
