Mr. Abubakar Barde, the Convention Planning Convention (CPC) Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has said debate is paramount to access leaders.
He said this while speaking with pressmen on Wednesday, December 2nd at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja at the first ever NANS Presidential debate held by the Nigeria Student Election Debate Group (NSEDG) as to the necessity for the NANS presidential aspirants to have debates before the elections .
Mr. Barde further said the debates “will enable the students to know who they want to vote for.”
He implored the students to choose independently without being cajoled and should elect a leader whose manifestoes and answers are satisfiable.
He also emphasized on the need of having an intellectual leader who would be able to lead students, not through violence or anti-government acts but by engaging in intellectual discussions with the government.
