UISU: OBJ STEPS DOWN FROM PRESIDENTIAL RACE

Ogeleyinbo Bodunrin Joseph aka OBJ, an aspirant for the Presidential position of the Students’ Union, University of Ibadan, has stepped down from the race.

OBJ took the decisive decision at the Stakeholders’ meeting of Kenneth Mellanby Hall held today, 7th April, 2016 with a view to broaden the chance of another resident of the Hall, Adegoke Kehinde Victor aka K-Cent in the race.

It must be noted that K-Cent and OBJ were until today contesting the same position in the Students’ Union race despite coming from the same Hall, a very bad omen for the Hall in the UISU politics.

In a statement signed by the Information Minister of Mellanby Hall, Israel Agada, OBJ has accepted K-Cent as the only presidential aspirant from the hall in the UISU race in order to bolster the fortune of the hall in the poll.

Mr Ogeleyinbo’s stepping down is the latest in the series of surprises that make this year UISU election special from the rest. Another aspirant for the position of Vice Presidency had earlier stepped down due to what she called personal reason while a General Secretary hopeful from Nnamdi Azikwe also quashed his ambition because of hall loyalty. Also worth mentioning is the emergence of a vice presidential aspirant from the Obafemi Awolowo Hall to add fervour to the race.

UCJUI promises to keep you posted as events unfold in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
