UI sets to commence 2025/2026 academic session virtual classes for freshers

The University of Ibadan had today, Saturday, 17th of January, 2026 announced the commencement of virtual classes for freshers admitted in the 2025/2026 academic session.

The announcement which was conveyed through an internal memorandum signed by the Registrar, G. O. Saliu, revealed that the virtual classes will commence from Monday, 19th of January 2026 and will span for six (6) weeks.

While the channel for the virtual classes was not revealed, the letter said that students should be on the lookout for invitations, which will be sent by the weekend to the phone number they used for registration during admission to join a “WhatsApp Community” which would be created for further interactions regarding the virtual classes.

Also, the letter declared that only students who have been cleared by the admission office will be eligible to attend the virtual classes and access online learning resources, and students are not expected to be physically present on campus during the 6 weeks of virtual classes. Students who are not able to access the resources are advised to contact the admission office through admissions.ui.edu.ng.
