TEDxUI HOLDS TEDxUIWOMEN WITH THE REST OF THE TED WORLD

TED Women, a three days conference held yearly by TED and other independently organized TED event around the world surfaced on the University of Ibadan soil on Friday, November 3, 2017.

The event which aims to celebrate women was brought locally to UI organized by TEDxUI Club which was recently inaugurated as a fully fledged students association in the University of Ibadan.

The theme of the event was tagged bridges. It was said to insinuate a link from the past till the present and further passage to the future. It also buttressed the fact that what the world needed were such bridges and not walls or barriers.

The programme had in attendance notable personalities that are making waves in the womens world. The speakers for the day include Kadiri Kadijat, a lecturer and humanitarian photographer; Ayo Shittu, an Attorney at Austin Texas; Chichi Umeseaka, a teenage coach and CEO of 9inteen works, Ola Orekunrin, a British-Medical Doctor and TED fellow; Cynthia Mene, a Social Entrepreneur and CEO of Inspire Africa; and Folu Ajayi, a Lawyer and Fashion Designer.

The programme which was sponsored by Zenith Bank started at around 11am and witnessed spectacular performances from dancers and spoken word artistes at interludes. There was also ground breaking and inspiring speeches all delivered by the speakers present.
