On Saturday, 22nd July, The Sigma Club, University of Ibadan awarded financial scholarships to 20 indigent students of the university as an act of philanthropy.
At the award ceremony which held at the Alumni Centre, University of Ibadan, each beneficiary was rewarded with a cash scholarship of #100,000 after a selection process from a pool of numerous applicants.
While speaking at the ceremony, the Dean of Student Affairs, ably represented by Dr. Adejumobi, the Hall Warden of Independence Hall commended the efforts of the club for supporting students and ensuring that they can continue their academic pursuits despite the situation in the country.
While asking the Sigma Chief, Loyalist Lucky Eluwa how he feels about the success of the ceremony, he says “I feel very fulfilled. As a student, I know where I’m coming from. I came into this school with nothing; unsure of how I will pay my school fees every session. And today, I’m the Head of a club that award scholarships to students in that same situation. I don’t think Messi can feel the same way I feel winning the World Cup. I feel so fulfilled today.”
