JCIN UI Inducts 75, Trains Member on Unity in Diversity

The University of Ibadan chapter of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021, inducted 75 new members at her General Assembly held at the Veterinary Medicine Auditorium in the University of Ibadan.

The Guest Speaker of the occasion, JCIN ambassador Ibraheem Tiamiyu, while giving his address on the theme of the event, “Unity in Diversity ”, urged members of the organisation to unite one another within the diverse backgrounds, races and perspectives that constitute the membership of JCI.

Lending His opinion on academics and soft skills, Tiamiyu, who is the JCI Nigeria National Vice President of South-West District 1, encouraged members of the organizations to learn soft skills, saying ” in the matter of survival, first class does not matter.” According to him, what matters is sufficient soft skills, as hard skills are mere entry-level requirements.

The President of the Organization, Fareeadah Animasaun who led the oath and officially pronounced the inductees as members, urged the new members to be active and to give their all to the organization.

The event also featured an oratory contest on the topic ” Nigerian Educational System: The realities of the new normal.” In the end, Aiyede Emmanuel, Agu Sandra and Ige Azeezat were named Winner, First Runner Up and Second Runner up respectively.

Meanwhile, an award of the ‘Most Promising Inductee’ and ‘Best Inductee’ were also presented to Aiyede Emmanuel and Rahji Ayomide respectively. 

The event also witnessed the swearing-in of four persons as members of the board of Directors. Oyedele Mueez, Chioma Ezebialu, Owoh Matthew and Ibukunoluwa are to assume positions as Directors of ‘Tunde Oshobi Public Forum (TOPF)’, Directorate of Sports and Games and ‘Smith Waheed Gbolahan InterSecondary School Debates (SWGISSD) respectively.

In attendance at the event was the JCIN Collegiate Vice-Chairperson, Akpala Abdullahi Ibukunoluwa, JCIN AMB Christianah Olapade-Ojo from JCI Ibadan Elite, the Immediate Past President of the organisation in the University of Ibadan, Ogbaje Mordecai, the Executive Vice-President (Male), Afolabi Nasirudeen, the General Legal Counsel, Boluwatife Adeyemi as well as student leaders and observers within the University of Ibadan.
