CATHOLIC BISHOPS DROP MOVES TO ACCEPT GAYS
Roman Catholic bishops on Saturday, October 18, 2014 reversed a historic acceptance of gays, dropping parts of a controversial document that had talked more positively of homosexuals than ever before in Church history..
According to Reuters: After an initial draft was released on Monday, conservative bishops vowed to change the language on gays, cohabitation and re-marriage, saying it had created confusion among the faithful and threatened to undermine the traditional family.

The revised paragraph referred to homosexuality as one of the problems Catholic families have to confront.
“Once more, members of the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church have erred on the side of hypocrisy and fear,” Lisbeth Melendez Rivera, from the prominent US gay group Human Rights Campaign, told the AFP news agency.

SIX EGYPTIAN SOLDIERS KILLED IN SINAI ATTACK
At least six Egyptian soldiers have been killed in the Sinai Peninsula, in the most recent of attacks targeting government troops in the eastern restive region.
A remotely detonated roadside bomb exploded on Sunday as an armoured vehicle responsible for protecting a natural gas pipeline passed by, sources said.
Hundreds of soldiers and police officers have been killed in attacks since the army-led overthrow of president Mohamed Morsi in July last year.
A month after Morsi’s unseating, the army launched a military campaign to stamp out militias that have penetrated the neglected Sinai region, taking advantage of a security vacuum that accompanied years of political instability.
