BEGGING SOULS

-: By Olayiwola Faith Adedolapo

yesterday,

We rolled drums and sounds

Marred spirits, minds and thoughts

Still our fragile beings became lost

today,

They marched in boots and guns

Piercing skins, bones and lives

Until their blood flowed as the river

tomorrow,

You shall construct science and machines

To sharpen brains, acts and result

For what again shall be your gain?

forever,

The end shall be a result of the past and present

In the vision of timelessness and uncertain solitude

As the journey would forever be a blissful sorrow

As time and might endure

Our strength becomes a fading succour to happiness

Filling anguish, pains, anxiety and shame

Breeding hopelessness, foreign traits and art

Still again our dreams shall become wasted vessels

As shame and pain fades in vanity

Our wishes desire the unbearable

Their brains are dancing in the foolishness of their thoughts

To the fading tunes from the river that ignores

And their minds are the perfect rooms of ignored remedies

Thinking life and death have no difference

Their dreams are slaughtered on the altar of wisdom

In order to replenish the mystery of their greatness

Their children are raised to reign over a city of ruins

And live as though the subject lives as beings

And when they walk; marching into glory

They lay along the field into the silent world
