The University of Ibadan Vice chancellor, professor Idowu Olayinka has commissioned the faculty of agriculture Fan milk relaxation centre. This was coupled with the opening of the renovated faculty lecture theatres and the faculty library.
While giving his welcome address, the Dean of the faculty Professor Bamidele Omitoye said, the success of the renovations and the fan milk project was the results of the relentless efforts of the past dean of the faculty professor Iyayi, who had begun the planning of the project before the lapse of his administration but because of the flattened account he couldn’t execute it. “We thank the the vice chancellor for his constant support for this faculty since he assumed the office, and we use this medium to still request for the construction and renovation of the PYTP student hostels at Ileogbo Osun state, also the completion of the fish hatchery in faculty of aquaculture, and we want decrease in PYTP fee” he said.
In his remark, professor Idowu Olayinka said he appreciate the relentless efforts of the current dean of the faculty Professor Omitoye to alleviate faculty of agriculture to the greater height. “Nothing is much for agriculture at this moment, and we are going to make sure that our faculty of agriculture is the best, all over the world” he promised. “Anything we do is for the purpose of our students because if they are not here, we are not here to be found too”.
However, while speaking with the UCJ correspondence, the dean of the faculty Professor Bamidele Oluwarotimi Omitoye said that the project was not just a Fan milk project, it is a community project whereby the school management gave out some money, the HODs of department of agriculture, the 2001 set of students, the PG school and Feso Abiola, a contractor. “The fan milk was just the project conceived by the students of this faculty in collaboration with myself and with the efforts of Misses Oyebola, the fan milk dealer” he said.
He therefore urged the students to make proper usage of the project as they all also contributed to its success.
