Mr Ramoni Alabi, Head, Standards and Intelligence, Internal Audit department, First Bank Nigeria ltd, Lagos, has said that while agriculture is no longer the largest sector, it stands as the highest employer of labour in Nigeria.

He said this during the annual alumni Personality lecture organized by the Agronomy club on Thursday, 8th of September, 2016.

Mr. Alabi, who spoke on the topic, “The Role and Impact of Agriculture on the Nigerian Economy”, emphasized severally, the gradual shift from the reliance on oil to agriculture. He also stated that whether the government likes it or not, there is noimg-20160910-wa00031 way out except through agriculture.

The chairman of the occasion, Engineer Oriolowo, a successful renown farmer, also implored the students to adopt in-depth knowledge, energy, integrity and fear of God, as a part of them.

The lecture, which took place at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, was spiced up with a little bit of ‘academic fun’ as brief quizzes related to agronomy were conducted by the emcee.

The launching of the maiden edition of the Verdure magazine, a publication by the agronomy club was part of the programme.
