The department of Political Science, faculty of the Social Sciences, University of Ibadan has made the institution proud as it won the inter-varsity debate competition, hosted by the department.
The event which took place at the Faculty
’s Large Lecture Theatre on Friday, 2nd September 2016, was in honor of Professor Bayo Okunade, a Professor of Political Science and the Director of Distance Learning Centre, University of Ibadan.
The competition occurred among four institutions; University of Lagos, University of Ilorin, Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ibadan, which served as the host.
After the performance by the two representatives from each institution, the Judges, Professor Nike of the department of English and Dr. Francis of the department of Communication and Language Art, announced the results.
University of Ibadan, represented by Mr. Oyegunle Paul and Miss Osusanmi Dorcas, scored a total of 485 points, followed by University of Lagos with 383 points. University of Ilorin had about 365 points and Obafemi Awolowo University clinched 343 points.
