AFAS TO HOST NIGERIAN STUDENTS ARTS FESTIVAL

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), University of Ibadan Chapter is set to hold in October 2016 an epoch making event tagged Nigerian Students Arts Festival AKA Arts Ablaze.

According to Adeoye Adejare, the president of the Association as well as the Chairman of the organising committee, “the 3-day event is designed to feature various forms of arts including poetry performances, play, panel discussions, master classes dance, music, visual arts, exhibition and book fair.”

The programme is aimed among other things at discovering literary talents that will dominate the global literary space the way Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Christopher Okigbo, Elechi Amadi, and Chukwuemeka Ike and their likes did.

The event will also feature collection by the winners of the Nigerian Students Arts Festival of prize for poetry.  The submission for the competition closed on 10th August after entries have been got from many tertiary institutions from across the country.

The festival revolves around the Nigerian youth as it is expected to introduce prominently a host of remarkable young talents in the country and this is aptly captured in the keynote address “Engaging the Youthfulness in Arts”.
