Kolade Olarenwaju Freedom, a 200 level student of the Department of Communication and Language Arts (CLA) bagged the Pentasi B 2016 Universal Inspirational Poet Award alongside other poets at the awards night of the poetry festival at Ghana on Monday, 23rd May, 2016.
The recipients of the award which included Timileyin Gabriel Olajun, a Sociology student at Osun State University, were determined based on merit and global impacts.
The World poetry festival which lasted 6 days kicked off May 17th with delegates drawn from about 9 different countries across the globe.
In a chat with the UCJUI correspondent, Freedom, the author of Puntured Silence, said the memorable event was laced with artistic beauty, poetic values, vigor and excitement.
When asked how he felt after being awarded on Monday night, he reponded; ‘I feel fulfilled. Being recognised for an effort incubates a greater effort. I believe I have my path further illuminated with the brightness of the honour.
Another second year CLA student, Kalejaye Folajimi who was invited as a guest performer distinguished himself with his exceptional performance of his poem titled ‘The faculty of heart’.
The Poetry festival which saw a gathering of renowned poets and a co-ordinative movement of various forms of art came to an end after the awards night.
