Mother counselled
Father scolded
Friends warned
You have invented an artificial deafness
Truancy and obstinacy precede your names
of perdition, given to wreaking havoc
You wave off the counsel of your father
make your mother weep
Nemesis is your trail
to teach you the hard realities of life.
You haven’t not heard?
the reprobate and recalcitrant
treads on destruction
Listen, it shall be well with you.
What is your gain
Of your truancy and unseriousness
failure, disappointment and shame as it fetched
Friends and siblings have shown you
your boundary – for fear of taking after you
Why not heed the grey hairs
now and in time.
Change – reap the fruit bountifully
Persist with your disastrous acts,
face the panel alone
if you die wretchedly in your reprobrate ways
mourning will be but for some days
But peace – that the doom
is finally gone!
