Ezekiel Oluwaseyi Agboola has emerged Chairman of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Oyo State Chapter, following an election held at the association’s 2026 convention in Ibadan on Saturday, September 26.
The convention, held at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, recorded 14 delegates, according to the communiqué issued at the end of the proceedings. Agboola secured 13 votes to defeat Olumide Adedara, who received no votes, and Israel Osuntokun, who polled one vote.
Voting commenced at 2:35 p.m. after the convention was formally constituted. The counting of the 14 ballots followed immediately after voting and produced winners across the executive positions contested.
Abdulwaheed Hayyahtulah Olamide was elected Deputy Chairman with 13 votes against Ayodele Fakunle, who received one vote. In the other contested positions, Ojedeji Jeremiah won Director of Special Duties and Transport Affairs with 10 votes, defeating Aderogba Paschal with four votes, while Akomolafe Samuel won Director of Sports and Social Duties with 12 votes. Ajiboye Imran received two votes, and Oladipupo Elijah recorded none.
The remaining positions were won without opposition, with all 14 delegates voting for the successful candidates. Abdsalam Aishat emerged Director of Gender and Campus Affairs, Christopher Ogunesan was elected Publicity Secretary, Kasali Ishola became Treasurer, and Ogundele Hassan emerged Director of Welfare.
Busari Habibat was elected Deputy Secretary-General, while Taiwo Adesope emerged Secretary-General. Ayantoyinbo Stephen was elected Financial Secretary.
The convention began at 2:25 p.m. following the nomination of Ojediran Tobiloba as Convention Chairman. Kazeem Waris Alabi was appointed Convention Secretary, while Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale chaired the Communiqué Drafting Committee.
The electoral process was observed by representatives of student organisations, including the NANS National Financial Secretary, NANS Southwest Secretary-General, NANS JCC Chairman for the Oyo Axis, FOSSU National President, FIBSU National President and the Emeritus Chairman of the NAUS Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Maicon, according to the communiqué.
The proceedings ended at 3:07 p.m. after a motion for adjournment was moved by Senator Usman Akinyemi of Lead City University, Ibadan.
