Geology booked their place in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Veterinary Medicine on Tuesday evening at the Student Union Building Pitch.
The match kicked off at exactly 4:01pm under the cool evening breeze.
With no heated contest in the early ten minutes, a vital one-on-one save from Veterinary Medicine’s goalkeeper kept Geology from taking an early lead.
Veterinary Medicine eventually broke the deadlock around the 18th minute, capitalizing on a moment of space to put themselves ahead.
However, Geology responded quickly. In the 25th minute, Holocene rose highest to meet a well-delivered corner, nodding in a powerful header to draw level before halftime.
Vet Medicine came close to regaining the lead just four minutes into the second half, with their number 9 rattling the crossbar from a distant free-kick. Geology, meanwhile, squandered a golden opportunity from a free-kick at the edge of the area, rifling the ball wide.
Geology finally got a goal worthy of their performance slotting home what would become the winning goal just ten minutes until finish time.
