Seals Cup 2025: Organizing Committee Holds Draws, Unveils Opening Fixtures

With less than 72 hours to the commencement of this year’s edition of the Seals Cup, the Organizing Committee on Monday 19th May 2025 unveiled the groupings of the competition.

The draws was held at the Student Union Representative Council Chambers with Representatives of each participating team represented.

The male teams were put into 8 groups while the female participating teams were put in 4.

Each group also contained 4 participating teams per group.For the male category, Group A has been considered the ‘Group of Death’.

Participating teams in this group includes the defending champions, MBBS, last year’s finalists, Industrial and Product Engineering, alongside the departments of Biochemistry and Arts and Social Science Education.

For the Female category, last year’s defending Champions, Arts and Social Science Education were grouped alongside Statistics, KHE and LARIS in Group A.

The opening match for this year’s Seals Cup would be a repeat of the last edition’s finals between MBBS and IPE while the female category opening game will be between ASSE and KHE.

While emphasizing on proper dressing, the chairman of the Seals Cup, Olowu Daniel, enjoined both participating teams in the opening ceremony match to come properly dressed.

They are to come in formal attires as the defending Champions, MBBS would be allowed to parade their trophy just before the opening match.

Olowu further emphasized on the uniform hoses rule for all outfield players participating in the competition.

This year’s Seals Cup is set to kick off on Wednesday, 21st May 2025.

As the days draw closer and the expectations grow higher, it’s left to see the talents that this year’s edition of the biggest inter-departmental tournament in Western Nigeria unfolds.
