Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, marked it’s 75th Anniversary on Saturday, 8th of March, 2025 at the KAAF Auditorium.
Sigma Club held a press conference alongside the convention which was held in celebration of its anniversary.
During the Press conference, Sigma Chief highlighted the club’s enduring impact and future aspirations.
He emphasized that the milestone is a testament to the club’s sustained contributions to both the student community and society at large.
He noted that the club’s unwavering commitment to discipline and the support from Old Sigmites, have been pivotal in maintaining its traditions and values over the decades.
“Sigma Club is built solely on discipline and integrity. It has been one of the core factors that sustained us to this moment. The support we get from old Sigmites is part of our sustaining factor.” He told UCJ Correspondent.
As part of their efforts at philanthropy, they provide scholarships via the Sigma Scholarship scheme, Medical and Health outreaches, the last of which was held at a place called Ijaiye Village.
According to him, the Sigma Club is localized to the University of Ibadan as a principle of the Club add ing that the club engages in diplomatic means to settle disputes.
He mentioned that the club had no problems with peaceful demonstrations and would join in for the good of society, but would shun violence and riotous protests.
Revealing some plans on the Sigma House project which aimed at creating a few buildings, with an event centre, he stated that the club is still waiting on the University to allocate land.
He finally extended an invitation to students of the University of Ibadan, to the Sigma Club. “Everybody is happy in Sigma Club, it’s a beautiful brotherhood” he explained.
