KMHIEC Maintains Stance on the Disqualification of Adeife Adeneke, postpone Election Activities Indefinitely

The Kenneth Mellanby Hall Independent Electoral Commission in a release signed by the commission Chairman, Sunday Precious Nnamdi, has expressed its displeasure with the judgment made by the Mellanby HLC by maintaining that the Candidate vying for the position of Hall Chairman, Adenekan Adeife remains disqualified.

The commission in reference to Section 61, Subsection 1(b) of the Electoral Guidelines, which stipulates that any individual contesting an election must “be of good moral conduct,” submitted that the candidate is not fit for the position as he has violated this part of this constitution.

The commission enjoined the House “to recognize and respect the independence of the Electoral Committee, which is committed to maintaining fairness, transparency, and integrity in all electoral processes. The committee remains steadfast in upholding the principles enshrined in the electoral guidelines to ensure credible and unbiased outcomes.”

In the same release, the election which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 1st and the Manifesto/Press Night which was scheduled to hold a day before has been postponed indefinitely.
