The finals of JawWar: Rise of Legends, the premier debating competition of the University of Ibadan, initially slated for January 8, 2025, have been postponed due to unresolved arrangements with the university management.
The announcement was made by the organizers in a Happy New year’s statement addressed to senators of the University of Ibadan Literary and Debating Society.
According to the organizers, the delay is necessary to secure key requirements, including the International Conference Centre (ICC) as the venue, UI Hotels for invited schools, and the participation of the university’s principal officers.
The organizers expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout 2024, acknowledging the efforts that contributed to the success of the preliminary stages of the competition.
“We deeply appreciate all your sacrifices, support, and criticism, which have contributed to the growth and development of the society,” the statement read.
While no new date has been announced, the organizers assured participants and spectators that they are working to finalize a date that will uphold the standard and prestige of the event.
The organizers promised to communicate the new date as soon as arrangements are concluded.
