The Super Cup Organizing Committee has revealed that there is a different approach to the representation of some faculties in the upcoming edition of the UI SU Super Cup football competition.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Victor Kolawole revealed this in an exclusive interview with UCJUI while speaking on the dynamics that will feature in the new edition of the Super Cup. “We have agreed that since the participating teams are meant to be last Dean’s Cup winners, they will strictly remain so. However, in the case of faculties that have one department like Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, etc, the level that won their last Dean’s Cup will represent the faculty which is different from the last edition whereby the entire team of these faculties represents them. In cases whereby the winners were finalists and have graduated, the runner-up will take their place”, he said.
The Super Cup is a football knockout tournament that pits various Dean’s cup winners across faculties on the university of Ibadan campus against one another. The very first edition of the female category is set to be introduced as; ASSE (Education), European studies (Arts), Statistics (Science), Veterinary Medicine (400L- 600L), Animal science (Agriculture), Forest products and production (Renewable Natural Resources) and MBBS/PHY (Clinical sciences) all compete for glory.
Recall that the UI SU Super Cup was premiered by the last Sports Secretary of the Students Union, Omokukpo Moses Etana while the current administration has recently announced its return.
