Tom Tom FC went into the final match against SFA on the back of a 3-2 final defeat in the previous edition as they sought redemption against today’s opponent.
The boys in white and black started on the front foot, dominating proceedings, but it Soccer For All who broke the deadlock. Korede, who was found via a sublime free kick, scored from close range after his first attempt was saved by Olami in the Tom Tom FC goal.
Tom Tom FC’s early dominance paid off when Mendy parried Pius’ free kick towards his own net. At 1-1, Tom Tom FC continued to ask questions of the SFA backline as Pius and Heskeyman dazzled in the middle of the park.
At the beginning of the second half, Akinpade was replaced by Mjay for Tom Tom as Afeez replaced Emeka for SFA. The Sigma Chief’s League defending champions took the lead again via their star striker, Korede whose powerful header flew beyond Olami into the back of the net.
The second half lived up to expectations as both teams took the game to one another. Tom Tom piled up some pressure on the SFA defense but the defending champion remained resolute as they sought to retain their title.
In the dying minutes of the game, Tom Tom missed a chance to draw level. Seconds later, the referee signaled the end of the keenly contested final as SFA ran out 2-1 winners.
The win means SFA have now won the first three editions of the Sigma Chief’s League while Tom Tom FC have now been condemned to a second consecutive final defeat.
