The third annual Roseline Etuokwu National Secondary School Quiz Competition of Sigma Club, University of Ibadan has entered the final stage, after months of several preliminary rounds across schools in the country.
The finalists, representing the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, include top schools as Ambassador College, Christ the King College; Deeper Life High School; Federal Government Academy; Gombe High School and Al-Qalam Science Academy. These representatives emerged after showing exceptional prowess in subjects ranging from Mathematics to Current Affairs.
Speaking about the significance of the competition, Moses Eniola, the Sigma Chief explained that the contest is an avenue to encourage academic excellence and also foster a spirit of healthy competition among young students.
“It’s a platform that empowers young minds, encourages academic excellence, and fosters a spirit of healthy competition. We are proud of all the finalists who have made it this far and look forward to an exciting final round,” he said.
The final stage of the competition is set to hold on July 2nd, 2024 in Ibadan with several prizes to be won. A sum of 1 million naira would be awarded to the national champion; 500 thousand naira for the first runner-up; 250 thousand naira for the second runner-up, with each finalist from the regional champions receiving 250 thousand naira.
