
Sigma Chief’s League, a football competition organized by Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, for students in the institution has entered its quarter-final stage.
The competition, scheduled to be held between January 22 and February 4, kicked off on Monday at the SUB football pitch.
Speaking on the competition, Sigma Club’s publicity committee chairman, Loyalist Fadipe Oluwaferanmi, noted that it was organized to further the philanthropic goals of the organization and foster unity among students.
“Sigma Club, known for Social and Philanthropy activities. The Sigma Chief’s League is a social event organized by sigma club at the same time an act of Philanthropy as The participants, spectators and winners will go home with gifts.
“As we know that football is a game of love, Sigma Club is also using this medium, the Sigma Chief’s League to preach love among students in the university community so as to foster peace and unity,” he noted in a chat with UCJUI.
In the knockout stage of the men’s category of the competition held on Tuesday, Soccer For All (SFA) defeated NUESA Clippers by 2 goals to nil.
Meanwhile, in the female category, the current NUESA Dean’s Cup Female Champions, ASSE, defeated Sociology by 2 goals to 1 at the Zik Maracana Stadium. The second tie for the round between KHE and the Statistics Female team, a 6-goal thriller, ended 4:2 in favor of the Statistics team. The match between Early Childhood and CLA ended one-nil in favor of the CLA female players.
