The Students’ Union, University of Ibadan has written an apology to the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, a few days after calling him out via an open letter for his perceived nonchalance towards insecurity bedeviling Students living off-campus.
As stated in the apology letter, the harsh tone of the initial open letter was as a result of “the pain and agony arising from the grief over the death and injuries of some colleagues who have been victims of the dastardly robbery attacks”. However, the Adewole-led administration urged the governor to pardon the unruly actions of the union.
The Students’ Union leadership then commended the swift response of the governor since the circular was released. It was noted that the governor sent delegates to the school to see the affected areas.
Finally, the Union indicated her interest in working hand in hand with the governor to tackle insecurity in the University area.
