Nigerian artistes this year have been hugely successful,2021 can be seen as the year that witnessed the largest amount of Nigerian music exports to the international scene. Quite a number of musical artistes became known in the international scene this year. Many artistes have been successful this year but some Nigerian artistes have been more successful than the others.
This article will be reviewing the most successful artistes in 2021 so far, here are they:
Wizkid
It is hard to mention successful artistes in 2021 without mentioning Wizkid aka Wiz Baba. He has been hugely successful this year. His album Made in Lagos contributed to most of his successes this year. He has grown in leaps; he has grown in bounds this year.
Essence a track on Made in Lagos became the first Nigerian song (without the feature of an international artiste) to be on Billboard Hot 100. He and Tems were recently awarded after their song went Platinum in Britain. Many other tracks on the album have also been successful. Wizkid also sold out 02 arena thrice back-to-back-to-back for his concert. Wizkid has shown why he is one of the best artistes in Nigeria through his successes this year.
Burna Boy
Burna Boy is another successful artiste this year. The highlight of his success was when he won the Grammy award for the best Global music album. His album “Twice as Tall” won the award for him. He can be the first Nigerian to win it in this category. He was also the first Nigerian artiste to win the Grammy for his own work.
Burna Boy has continued to prove why he is one of the very best in Africa. His track “Question” prod by Don Jazzy became No 1 on various streaming platforms in weeks. Kilometre also topped various music charts, his concerts in the United Kingdom, United States, and other countries were also hugely successful.
Burna Boy has been indeed hugely successful so far this year.
Tems
2021 has been one of the most successful years if not the most successful year of Tems’ career. 2020 was good for Tems but 2021 so far has been indeed better for Tems. 2021 saw her being introduced to the international music scene. It all started from Essence, a song Wizkid featured her in. Essence became a global music hit thus making Tems insanely popular. All her other songs got more streams after that feature. Her brilliance and talent on that feature and her other songs earned her a feature on Drake’s album Certified lover boy. She featured on the track “Fountain”. That also is currently a global music hit.
2021 has seen her meet global music icon Rihanna, Drake, and others. She has been featured in some reputable magazines and newspapers. She was awarded alongside Wizkid after Essence went platinum in Britain.
Tems is a brilliant and very talented artistes and her brilliance and talent have made her one of the most successful artistes so far this year.
