The University of Ibadan Senate Council has approved a new academic calendar for the commencement of 2020/2021 academic session with all first semester classes to be held online. This was made public in a bulletin released today, signed by the institution’s Registrar, Olubunmi O. Faluyi.
According to the bulletin, the protracted 2018/2019 session will commence on Jan 18, 2020 while 2020/2021 academic session will commence February 22, 2020. However, 2019/2020 academic session will be skipped due to its being long overdue.
The bulletin provides that all first semester classes will be conducted virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic .
“In approving the Calendar, Senate noted the prevailing circumstances occasioned by the second second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the need to comply with the protocol s established for the control of the spread of the pandemic. It, therefore, agreed that the 2020/2021 First Semester lectures will be delivered online. In this regard, students will not be accommodated on campus.”
“Senate also approved the cancellation of the 2019/2020 session. The next session is, therefore , renamed 2020/2021 Academic Session. Consequently, students who have been admitted for the 2019/2020 session will now be regarded as the 2020/2021 intakes. “
