entMeet Adebayo Ogunlesi, the Man Who Acquired London Gatwick Airport

56-year-old Adebayo Ogunlesi who is the chairman and managing partner, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), an independent investment fund based in New York City with worldwide stake in infrastructure assets, is now the new owner of the London Gatwick Airport.

The Gatwick deal is £1.455 billion agreement with BAA Airports Limited.

Ogunlesi attended the prestigious King’s College, Lagos. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He was a lecturer at Harvard Law School and the Yale School. Ogunlesi, whose father was the first Nigerian-born medical professor, studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford and then earned law and business degrees from Harvard. Ogunlesi has lived in New York for 20 years and is active in volunteer work. But he also cultivates his ties to Africa. He informally advises the Nigerian government on privatisation.

In the US, he is known as the Nigerian who clerked for late Supreme Court justice, Thurgood Marshall, who they say was unable to pronounce his name and quickly dubbed him Obeedoogee.

The beauty queen is currently a 200 level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Late Kefee to Be Buried In Sapele

Late singer, Kefee Don-Momoh, will be laid to rest on Friday, July 11, 2014, 31 days after she passed away in a U.S hospital.

According to her publicist, the ‘Branama’ singer will be buried in her hometown – Okpara-Inland, Ethiope East local government, Sapele, Delta State.

Kefee’s husband Teddy Don-Momoh recently revealed that the singer’s family insisted she be buried in her hometown. Kefee’s body is still in the U.S; Teddy has however been making arrangements to bring her back to Nigeria.

Nigerian Songstress, Tiwa Savage, BET Awards Dress Causes Stir

Tiwa, who was nominated in the ‘Best International Act’ category, stepped out in a navy blue dress with a completely sheer upper body and finished off her look with gold ear-rings, a gold embellished clutch and let her hair down but she was however criticized by some of her fans and fashion enthusiasts for wearing the revealing outfit.

The Eminado crooner who was recently accused of descending on a member of staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company for being “rude” to her was also criticized by her fans when she released her music video ‘Wanted’ in May.

Davido ended up winning the award for Best International Act, Africa 2014.

Nigerian Censors Approve ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’

One of the most-awaited films of this year in Nigeria “Half of a Yellow Sun” has been finally approved the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). 

Times, it was made known on Friday. The movie, which had been previously banned over partially taking place during the Biafran War, will be allowed to watch only by those 18 of age.

This movie, along with more than 70 other Nollywood films was tagged “18 and above” by the censorship board.

Months after the controversies surrounding the novel-based film, it was finally approved as the one “fulfilling the regulatory conditions stipulated by the NFVCB”.
