The industry has met with new talents. Surprisingly, artistes like Joeboy, Mr Eazi, Rema, Fireboy, Teni, and Dremo have all completely taken the Nigerian entertainment industry by storm. They have proved to serve as alternatives to the big names like Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and many other big artistes in vogue. Some of these new artistes have had more hits in 2019 than some of these new artistes. Of course, that’s commendable!
The focus will be on two new wonderful and talented artistes; Rema and Fireboy. They have definitely imprinted their style and sound in the Nigerian music industry.
In comparing these two artistes, one would be able to see many of their wonderful achievements. These artistes are just simply one of a kind and are viewed as the future of Nigerian Music. I will start with Rema.
Rema
Rema’s real name is Divine Ekubor. He’s a young talented artiste. He came into the limelight after one of his freestyles went viral on social media. He was quickly snapped up by D’Prince and Don Jazzy.
Later, Don Jazzy signed him to Jonzing World, a subsidiary record of Mavin Records which means he is technically signed to Mavin Records. He then rose to local and international prominence after he released his serial hit song ‘Iron man’. This song was on the former president of the United States, Barrack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist. He also has many hit songs to his name like Dumebi, Boulevard, corny, trap out the submarine, lady etc.
When Rema released his EP titled Rema EP, it very quickly became the No 1 album/Ep on Apple music in Nigeria at that time. His Freestyle EP also achieved the same feat. He has won the next rated award at the Headies and Soundcity MVP award for the best new artiste. Drake recently announced a new six song project with Rema. What sets Rema apart is his voice. His voice is described as very distinct from many other artistes. Although some might say many of his songs lack good lyrics, he is an artiste that will achieve more in the music industry.
Fireboy
Ademola Adefolahan aka Fireboy DML is one of Nigeria’s finest artiste at the moment. After the release of his hit single, Jealous, he became jealously popular. Now, almost all his other songs have become an instant hit back to back. He already has a studio album to his name which is titled ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebump’ which is a massive success.
The album was one of the highest streaming African albums o`n Apple music in the year 2019. Fireboy won the Listener’s choice in the last Soundcity music awards. He was also nominated for the next rated award at the last Headies award. Apart from these two awards, he has been nominated for many other awards and won quite a few of them.
These two artistes have proven magnificent. Their fans are solidly behind them and will vehemently defend the artiste they support. Now, the decision is left with you, the readers.
