UI’SU Set To Host Actress and Skit Maker, Mummy Wa, Despite Scheduled Protest

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union will on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 host various celebrities including Kemi Ikuseedun popularly known as Mummy Wa and Tony Umez at the New Facility Lecture Theatre in the Rising Above Limit School Tour 2025, held by GLEAMS Foundation.

The event which is slated for 11am has been publicised on WhatsApp by various members of the UI’SU executive council including the President and Vice president, as well as the UI’SU WhatsApp TV.

This is coming after a release made by the UI’SU Executive Council stating that a protest might hold on the same day, Wednesday 23rd April, depending on whether the MDCAN Strike continues.

Recall that the MDCAN Strike has persisted for over 4 months and the UI’SU has released various memos, attended conferences, and cancelled a protest as regards the strike.

The Student Union Executive Council in its attempt to draw students’ attention to this tour has announced that there would be free refreshments, free entry, meet and greet, and a dance competition to win prizes.

Speaking to a correspondent of the UCJ, the president of the UI’SU, Covenant Odedele stated that the school tour had been scheduled long before the protest.

“This event was long scheduled before the decision of the protest.” He said

The House secretary on the other hand explained that the protest was going to be held in the morning, the campus tour on the other hand would hold in the afternoon.

“We discovered it was clashing. However, protest will start very early in the morning till early afternoon. Afterwards people can attend Mummy Wa [event] in the afternoon.” The House Secretary told UCJ.
