UI VC Race: Aderinto, Adebowale, Mimiko, Ademowo And Two Others Shortlisted For Final Screening.

The UI VC race reached its climax as 6 aspirants have been shortlisted to proceed to the final stage of the screening. The 18 aspirants for the position of the highest office in the University was pruned down to 6 at the screening conducted yesterday, Tuesday.
The shortlisted candidates include: Prof. Femi Mimiko; lecturer at the department of Political Science, OAU, Prof. Kayode Adebowale; DVC(Admin), and former DVC( Academics), Prof. Abideen Aderinto.
The other three are Prof. Olusegun Ademowo of the College of Medicine, Prof. Olatunde Farombi; a professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Toxicology and Prof. Babatunde Salako; former Provost of the College of Medicine, UI.
Out of the six shortlisted candidates, 5 of them are homegrown while Prof. Mimiko is a graduate of Political Science at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The shortlisted candidates will be further pruned down to 3 at today’s screening which will be headed by Nde Joshua Waklek, Chairman of the Council and four other members; including Prof. Ayoola and Prof. Olapegba
This was confirmed by a source that “The shortlisted candidates are expected to meet with the selection board on October 28, after which the report of the interview with selection board will be considered at a Council meeting slated for October 28.
