A team of Students of the University of Ibadan have emerged runner-up at the just concluded Basin Evaluation Competition organised by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
The results were announced during a dinner at the association’s Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAPE AICE 2022) which was held from November 13th to November 17th at Eko Presidential Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos State.
The six-man team that represented the University of Ibadan include John Ayobami, Oginni Victor, Sunday Christiana, Abatan Anthonia, Omiwole Nasir and Edeh Vincent.
The competition officially started on August 15 although preparations have been ongoing by the team since July.
The competition consisted two rounds: the preliminary round and the finals. The preliminary round was held between August 15 to October 15 and that was when all the work was done and submission was made. A presentation video and a slide were submitted.
After that, the top five schools were picked and they proceeded to the finals. The other schools that reached the final stage are the University of Lagos, Kwara State University, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University and University of Ilorin.
Kwara state university emerged in the Third position while University of Ibadan came second with a price of Three Hundred Thousand Naira. The team from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University came first and went home with a sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira.
