I.F ADEWOLE AT UI MOSQUE

Professor Isaac Folorunsho Adewole was at the University of Ibadan central mosque on Friday, 7th of November, 2014 for the convocation Jumat service.
The Jumat service commences the 2014 convocation and 66th foundation day ceremony. While all other ceremonies will be held this week ranging from the convocation lecture for which the lecturer will be His Execellency, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, Executive Govenor, State of Osun (to be held on Tuesday) to Admission to First Degree on Thursday and Friday.
Other features of the convocation week include; Admission to Higher degrees on Saturday; foundation day service at the chapel with a command performance titled ‘Alapata Apata’ at Arts Theatre on Sunday.
The grand finale of the convocation ceremony will be the 66th foundation day and Admission to higher degrees (doctorate) on the 17th November, 2014 and award of honorary degrees where Chief Oluwole Olanipekun, SAN, former Pro-Chancellor UI (2009-2013) with (LL.D); Emeritus Professor, Theophilus Oladapo Ogunlesi, the first Nigerian Professor of Medicine with (D.Sc); The first and youngest alumnus of the University of Ibadan to become its Vice-chancellor, Professor, Tekena Tamuno with (D. litt).
Others are Professor Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, the first African Nobel prize winner with (D. Litt) and Otunba Mike Adeniyi Isola Adenuga Jr. GCON with (D. Sc)
UI TIGHTENS UP SECURITY

The University of Ibadan security has tightened up the security of the school by checking the boots of every vehicle that comes in or goes out of the campus.
The announcement was made via the community radio, Diamond 101.1FM on Thursday, 6 November, where it was said that no car will neither come in to the campus nor leave the campus without security check whether it is for student, staff or even official cars.
It was also said that this is to tighten the security of the university especially at a time when the nation is facing security challenges.
However, the management pleaded for cooperation from the members of the community and visitors with the security unit of the university.
TOYE IBITOYE BACK AT HOME

Toye Ibitoye, the first sports Journalist to be celebrated on the FIFA’s website was back to his department on Wednesday, 5 November, 2014.
Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development was happy to receive her alumnus who delivered a speech at the personality lecture organised by the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Students Association. In the course of his lecture he advised the students never to be communicators without an impact but to always strive to be change agents.
He shared his experience as an Agropress member and also as a goal keeper for the UI football Club and the usefulness now.
UI APPLAUDS DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The University of Ibadan Management applauded Department of Chemistry for her prompt release of semester results.
This was done via the University’s bulletin where the Vice-chancellor, Professor Isaac F. Adewole congratulated the head, Department of Chemistry, the academic staffs and non-academic staffs for making it possible.
It was also said that one of the Vice-Chancellor’s strategic plan is that examination scripts are to be graded not later than a week after examinations, a practice which the Department of Chemistry has maintained.
FUNAAB LEADS WHILE UI COMES THIRD AT HOME

University of Ibadan came third at the Inter-Varsity Presentation organised by the Agricultural Economics students Association, University of Ibadan which was won by Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
The Inter-Varsity Presentation which was done in honour of Professor A Falusi, was held at the First Bank building, Faculty of Agriculture. FUNAAB emerged first among the five varsities that participated, while Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho went home with the second position and the host, University of Ibadan took the third the position.
Other schools that also participated were Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife which queued after the host and went back with the fourth position and the school with the last position was the better by far university, University of Ilorin who competed with the collection of the best.

Let’s create a better image for the University of Ibadan to meet International standards said Prof. T.K Hamzah at the U.I. sensitization strategic planning workshop.
The U.I. strategic Planning sensitization workshop which took place at Trenchard hall for every staff and student and also at the Faculty of Science large lecture theatre for staff and student of the Faculty of Science and Technology at different time on Friday, 7 November, 2014 was done to enlighten everyone on the goals of the varsity for the next five years.
It also enables the varsity management to which area to focus on in realizing their goals.
Kuti repaints hall as she prepares for diamond jubilee celebration

Kuti hall is repainted in preparation for the 60th anniversary which will be celebrated soon.
The hall of great men now has a new face as some strategic places in the hall such as the front of the cafeteria; the poles underneath the b-block and some flower pot used to decorate the hall have been repainted.
However, a drop down banner has been hung which to portray the importance of the celebration.
