UI expects me to develop wings and fly to Lagos within less than two hours abi? Our management is heartless walahi. I have just about 500 naira in my bank account which I can’t even withdraw therefore, I have nowhere to go.
Even a 24 hour quit notice is not enough for a student like me.
I am broke!
- OLUWAFEMI OJUTIKU
I just listened to Prof. Abel Olayinka’s release. The part that struck me most was where he said “the students should go home and enjoy 24hours power supply” as well as “most of them were wearing masks”
My questions are these
- Are the students attending lectures at home
- Are the students going to be reading overnite at home
- Are the students also going to be walking to the library at 11pm in total darkness wen they get home.
- They shouldn’t wear mask, so that another aspirant will be singled out for expulsion especially when he said MOTE should have been expelled.
I know that was pure sarcasm comparing life at home to life in school.

Dear UItes, taking your management to task shows that you are not bastards. Your Vice-Chancellor and lecturers also condemn government activities that they consider obnoxious. So why can’t you? Articulate your demands, stand your ground, and don’t be intimidated by the way threats they issue. If a university can refer to a student as ‘one’, it goes to show you the height of irresponsibility ever shown anywhere in the world. This is no military junta and students must be free to express their opinions. Be articulate! Be steadfast! Be non-violent!–

I know a UNIVERSITY in NIGERIA where you would be sent home for engaging in a PEACEFUL PROTEST… UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN my alma matter… #AnINSANE WORLD… #FREEMOTE

Indefinite closure. Thank God I have not paid school fees. Let me go and money do better stuff.
- PAUL ALASIRI
The more reason why the Student’s Union needs a Lawyer.
How can you even give such short notice even if you want people to leave the premises.
Students have paid for Accommodation and on no more circumstances should they be told to Vacate the halls.
Like Toba Bankole rightfully said. SDC = Stupid Decisions Committee

Infact, I just got to know dis man called Olayinka(Vice chancellor University of ibadan) is an illiterate literate. Infact he is not worthy to be called an Alumni of this great citadel of learning.
I feel so ashamed hearing the news on diamond FM while accusing students wrongly for treating and destroying school properties, wearing of heavy masks. University of Ibadan claimed they award certificate based on character and sound judgement, then the question I asked myself after hearing this news was, is this man worthy of University certificate after his wrong accusation on students. I think this man certificate is questionable.
I think this man should be charged for slandering.

I strongly suggest the invitation of Edmund Obilo from Splash Fm to feature UI Protest issue tomorrow on The Voices and The Vice Chancellor should also be invited to defend or deny the ejection of the students from their halls……including the allegations that lead to this. If our father cant talk to us as his children,he should be able to talk to those who appointed him.?
- ABU MUJAHID ONAOLAPO
IS HE REALLY WORTHY OF THIS CERTIFICATE, IS HE REALLY WORTHY TO BE CALLED AN ALUMNUS OF THIS CITADEL OF LEARNING?.
I never have any trust in him since the first day he was announced as the next vice chancellor of this great citadel of learning because of his jiggery-pokery behavior.
I thought he will convince me and other uites that he is worthy of the post given to him by showing to us a sign of been a peerless diamond and man of colossal integrity, but it was sardonic and embarrassing the first time I heard this man saying “I don’t care if the school was locked than for a year, if you are not okay with the current situation of electricity in the school then you should all go home”.
After saying such, this exasperate the students by denying them there right, victimizing students with SDC as well serving students unjust rustication. After pushing the students to the wall, they(students) decided to show there grievances with a peaceful protest within the school premises. I thought the issue will be solved maturely because of the saying “an eye for an eye, will only make the world go blind”, but I still found it difficult to believe after hearing the news on diamond FM that the students are to vacate their respective halls of residence on or before 4pm on the 26th of April 2016 because of vandalization and treating of innocent students, this kind of decision is abolling.
The first question I asked myself was are these not the sets of people that made a protest because the meat given to them while they are in school was changed from Turkey to Chicken?are these not the sets of people that was been given an uninterrupted power supply, are these not the sets of people in which people in the laundry section wash cloth for?,if that is the case this decision should never be accepted from them.
University of Ibadan claimed they award certificate based on character and and sound judgement, then I asked myself was this same man given that certificate on this criteria, then of yes, his certificate his questionable.
An injustice to one is an injustice to all.

Am wondering how Olayinka would distribute SDC letter for us all because we failed to leave. I guess we would start downloading it from our portal 😀

Ladies and gentlemen, comrades in struggle, with the latest release from the school management, it has become clear that the university management think we are joking. We are agitating for the reinstatement of #MOTE and they are threatening US with expulsion, shoro niyen?
At this crucial hour, we should not be divided, we should remain strong. No going back, they should kuku expel us all and see the the aftermath. The victory of this agitation won’t be for #MOTE alone, but for all the students, present and future.
I SHALL NOT BE INTIMIDATED
I WANT JUSTICE
I AM MOTE
I AM AYOMIPO AND I AM FEARLESS
eeerrmm Oga pro, if you want our matric number, coman collect it.

This day 26th of April,2016 ,The vice chancellor, University of Ibadan has ordered that all students evacuate the school premises before 4pm.He also said that any student found in the library, halls of residence or classes stands the risk of outright expulsion
Personally, I think this more like a threat to whosoever decides to stay
But then ……………
I thought, there was supposed to be at least 2 weeks of allowing students to stay in the halls of residence before they are forcefully ejected
What will happen if we don’t leave school before 4?
What happens to people who are not Ibadan based?
Is this a way to make us stop the protests that have been on for 2 days now?
The protests were peaceful and were engineered to show the displeasure of the entire student population towards the current situation of things in the environment that is supposed to be conducive for learning. A conducive environment is peaceful and free of threats of all sorts either. It is also a place where students learn that everyone is equal regardless of tribe, age, race, nationality, height, skin colour and grade point. It is a place where justice and fairness is the order of the day.
Personally I think we deserve answers….
We wont stop till we get the answers we deserve…
We wont stop till we get the truth…
We have minds of our own…
We have feelings…
We can’t just be given orders…
Especially when you are not listening to what we have to say….
Sending us home wont reinstate Mote..
Sending us home wont make water flow in Awo hall…
It wont bring us Light…
Has anyone stopped to wonder what happens after we go on this indefinite strike ???
Will things be back to the way they ought to be??
Be wise,Stand together….Fight for what is your right

Greatest Uites,
At this juncture we need to all come together and fight against injustice. An indefinite strike is not the answer to our cry.
We do not want to go home, we want fair hearing.
We do not want to go home, we want welfarism.
We do not want to go home, we want the world to hear our side of the story.
We do not want to go home, we want justice.
Sending us home at this point in time is not the answer to our protest.
Has Mote been reinstated. Is water flowing in Awo hall.
Are Idiaites free from the outrageous loose of mad power wanting porters.
Why on earth should I pay a fine for not having carpet, or laying my bed, or putting dirty cloth on my bed in my room.
All these forms of victimization has to end or else the aim and objective of this protest is being forfeited.
Uites say no to indefinite strike. Join in the struggle. On return from the strike would there be light, water, considerable porters and staff, welfarism, an end to victimizing students. If yes let us all go home, but if no, let us all see this as the whiles of those evil people.
People who call themselves Fathers but are nothing but hypocrites.
People who sit and give suspension for semester as though they mean 2 or 3 weeks.
People who do not care about the life of students because most of their kids are overseas, enjoying what our forefathers paid with their blood and suffered to build not for themselves but for the Whites.
#Uites say no to Indefinite Strike.
#Free Uites.
#Free the Victimized.
#Free Mote.
Ui stand and fight for your right. We as students are not moron and we should be accorded our respect. NO GOING HOME UNTIL WE ARE FREE.
