TOMORROW IS A MIRAGE

As young children, our parents had plans for us; plans for our academics, profession and the rest. Most of us were very happy when they told us about the plans they had for us. If we truly examine these plans, a lot of them depicted selfishness in a way. For example, some parents wanted their children to be something so that the kids could take care of them at old age, so we see a lot of Medical doctors, Engineers, Lawyers and the rest. Unfortunately and fortunately, as we grew we discovered or decided for ourselves what we wanted to be in life. Almost everybody was so excited about the future; if a questionnaire was passed across to every person, asking “what do you want to become in the future?” There would have been a lot of beautiful responses like “I want to become the richest man in the world”. Strikingly, today most of us aren’t even close to what we wanted to become.

Procrastination is a bed of thorns for a man with a mission, determination is the key and diligence is the delight of a success. Never think that there is a tomorrow waiting for you; the future is rooted in the past and the past of the future is NOW. Little did we know that there was nothing like tomorrow. I know this may shock you, but truly there is really nothing like tomorrow, tomorrow is a mirage; it only exists in our minds. The future is just the product of our present involvements and activities; it’s a modified clone of today. You may want to look up the meaning of tomorrow in the dictionary, don’t let it confuse you. It just refers to the future and the future is now. In life all we have are moments and instances. You may not be sure if there will be a next moment, but now is now, you don’t need spiritual power to know that. Every moment is peculiar, has a specific role attached to it and when gone, can’t be regained. All we have is now.

A lot of times I thought how beautiful the world would have been if everyone lived everyday as though it was their last. Just imagine if the world comes to end as you are reading this article, how much have you achieved with your past? And if there would be a next world, will you be able to take pride of your achievements in this world? Probably, there was someone you needed to just say “I love you” or a kind word to just to put a smile on the person’s face. To me that would have been a very big achievement, even if that was the only good thing you did. If we learn to recognize tomorrow as a mirage, we will stop procrastinating. Remember, “Procrastination is bed of thorns for a man with a mission, determination is the key and diligence is the delight of a success”. For example:

If every student recognize tomorrow as a mirage, they will not wait until a night to the examination day to study their books.

If every young man recognize tomorrow as a mirage, he will not wait until his spouse quits the relationship before he can show and tell her how much he loves her. He will make out time to spend some time with her. A lot of times we don’t know the value of a thing until we lose it. If truly you love something, you will make out time for it.

If everyone recognize tomorrow as a mirage, we will start to discover our purpose in life and work in that direction to achieve it.

Remember the saying “make hay while the sun shines”. Do all you can now and leave tomorrow alone.
