THE MARCOPOLO BUS REAPPEARES

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) Marco polo bus believed to have been sold has been spotted along the Kunle Adepeju/Students Union building (SUB) on Friday, 27th of January, 2017.

The news which could have been easily mistakened for a rumour was confirmed by the UISU speaker, Rt Hon Onifade Bello, in an interview with UCJ. Also, the stationing of the Marco polo bus in its previous position in front of the SUB further confirmed the authenticity of this revelation.

The speaker, in reply to its implications, said that the controversy of the Marco polo bus was one of the issues that led to the suspension of the UISU President, Ojo Oluwanifemi. ‘It (the return of the bus) is a good thing’, he said. ‘The University community believed that the President had connived to sell the bus in conjunction with the house which is not true’, he concluded.

The return of the bus signifies a possible reinstatement of the President. The speaker however said that the reinstatement of the President depends on the decision of the Senate. In light of this revelation, the President’s fate remains undecided even with the appearance of the bus.

A critical inspection of the returned bus suggest that its physical condition is almost the same, if not worse. However, the operational state of the bus was not known at the time of this report.
