THE EDUCATED FOOL

Spending an average of four years to obtain a Degree in the first order is no joke! The multi-tasks to be undertaken are all part of the plan, which were supposed to fully prepare the beneficiaries, in this case the graduates, for surviving the endless challenges of the larger society.

In a typical trend, the Colleges of Education were designed for providing Topnotch Knowledge Facilitators (literarily called Teachers), Polytechnics & Monotechnics were reserved to bringing-out the best of Technical Knowledge potentially showcased by their products, while the Universities were destined to blend both theoretical & practical impartations for utmost use. However the standards not only have fallen short of expectations, but worse enough are the caliber of ‘Educated Illiterates’ churning out from the education system.

Vividly, don’t blame it all on the system, blame the ‘products’ instead!

There is a popular saying that, “at-least the System has raised its ‘products’, it’s then left for such ‘products’ to anticipate their balance in the society”. Opportunities abound everywhere at every instance, but it only takes the very vigilant mind to figure it out thoroughly.

‘Illogical’ is the term that could best describe the situation where a supposed graduate from the average citadel of higher learning laments on the basis of unemployment. Really the clamour isn’t the problem, but the actual ‘mentality of subjection’ to the unfortunate situation is the real problem. In recent times, there have been persistent waves towards encouraging vocational activities among young people, and more practical instances are being observed in virtually different sectors of the economy, particularly in the developed nations.

Acquisition of knowledge is only a part to being a Literate; the bulk of where the difference lies is the mode of application of such acquired knowledge. Relatively, there is an enhanced version of the old saying that, “Not just Knowledge But Applied Knowledge is Power”.

The mind of the average young person irrespective of gender seeks a comfort zone out of the impossible. Potentially, every individual has at-least a skill that could translate to a prospective employment. Without being dependent on the limited ‘white-collar’ jobs, you can as well be relevant in your creative field. The young Mark Zuckerberg figured out the world’s fascinating social media with creative ability, not the typical white-collar mentality. Think of this as a kind of leverage to pose a possibility to diverse employments.

Opportunities abound everywhere at every instance, but it only takes the very vigilant mind to figure it out thoroughly.

Perplexed attitude is not really productive in this context; except you develop that creative potential during your sojourn while in school, then you are an Educated Fool!

Several opportunities pose themselves to the average student through his stay in the university. Many are however oblivious of the fact that opportunity hides behind hardwork. While many lay in wait for the opportunities to come, many others pursue it through consistent rigor and participation in various projects that may come their way and little by little they are lent the experience to several jobs that they could easily build upon when they get to outside the walls of the university. Little wonder many wonder where they would get work experience while just graduating from school.

From the words of Robert Kiyosaki: At young age, work to learn and not to earn. This means that young men especially students should engage in delivery several services most importantly to learn to perfect it rather than to prioritize making money. It is however not the same story everywhere as every now and then, the first thing most students ask when being asked to help or volunteer for certain services is what they stand to earn from the whole process. When these are not financially estimated, most are quick to back out and return to their normal lifestyle of sitting in wait for opportunities. And when they graduate, have neither job experience nor the right connections to propel them to the level they so much desire or dream of.
